Suitable Electrode Materials for Titanium Sheet Deposition

Titanium is widely recognized to show an excellent resistance in highly corrosive environments, and the resource of titanium ore is abundant. However, the applications are limited because of the high cost for titanium production. In addition to the chlorination and reduction process, the fabrication process to sheet or foil is expensive. A cost-effective production process for titanium sheet is therefore investigated. A procedure to mechanically peel off electrodeposited titanium sheet from electrodes is established. Glassy carbon and molybdenum electrodes are found to be suitable for this purpose.
