Coagulase negative staphylococci from ovine milk: genotypic and phenotypic characterization of susceptibility to antibiotics, disinfectants and biofilm production

•CoNS from ovine milk represent a reservoir of environmental persistence factors.•S. epidermidis was the prevalent among the 12 identified species.•The highest resistance was against ampicillin (blaZ) and tetracycline (tetK, tetM).•Despite biofilm production genes presence, isolates were negative on Congo Red Agar.•Qac positive isolates did not show a separate distribution of disinfectants MICs.
