•A patient-similarity-based framework for diagnostic prediction is inspired by the structure-mapping theory in psychology.•The computable attribute similarity and learnable relation similarity were fused in this framework.•The multilabel classification in task of prediction diagnoses is converted into a single-value regression task.•Both positive analogy and negative analogy are used in the framework.
