Cognitive validation of cross-diagnostic cognitive subgroups on the schizophrenia-bipolar spectrum.

•Sample comprised cross-diagnostic bipolar/schizophrenia-spectrum disorder patients.•Patients were clustered based on cognitive variables and compared to controls.•Subgroups were Globally Impaired, Selectively Impaired and Superior/Near-Normal.•Alternative cognitive measure scores mostly consistent with clustering variables.•Suggests cognitive subgroups were not artefacts of the measures used to define them.
