•Digoxin down-modulate Th17 cell subpopulation in PBMCs isolated from RA patients.•Digoxin failed to modulate Th1 subpopulation of RA patients like expression of IFN-γ and other cytokines.•It also down-regulate expression level of IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-23 in the PBMCs of RA patients.
