Assembly pin factor parameterization method based on the proper orthogonal decomposition

•The proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) is introduced into the assembly pin factor parameterization.•The POD basis are used to store the spatial characteristic of the pin factor.•The POD coefficients are functionalized according to the state parameters.•The procedure based on the POD is carried out and verified.•The comparison is performed between the POD method and the traditional method for the assembly pin factor parameterization.
