Design of a 35 GHz Circularly Polarized Rectenna for Wireless Power Transmission

A circularly polarized rectenna based on slot coupled microstrip antenna is designed at 35GHz. For the antenna part, circular polarization can be obtained by cutting the opposite corner of the radiation patch. Meanwhile, good impendence performance can be achieved by feeding the antenna through slot coupled microstrip. For the rectifying circuit part, it can convert the received RF signals into DC singles. By designing reasonable matching circuit and output DC-pass filter, good RF-to-DC conversion efficiency can be obtained. The simulated results show that the axial-ratio (AR) of the presented rectanna is 0.4dB and the gain is 6.25dBic at 35GHz. When the input power is 20dBm and the load impendence is 139 Ω, the maximum conversion efficiency values of 61% is achieved. Therefore, this rectenna can be applied to wireless power transmission.
