•Minimization of monetary cost and energy consumption while keeping high user satisfaction for video streaming.•Simultaneous data download from multiple wireless networks (cellular/ WiFi), as well as peer devices over D2D links.•Autonomous operation at the user side without any intervention from the network side or changes in the technology standards.•Maintenance of target user satisfaction by minimizing the stalling events through satisfying a minimum buffering.•Consideration of cooperative pricing with different cost models including usage-based and tiered pricing.•Estimation of network parameters for the next time slots to achieve higher performance gains.•High performance gains up to an excellent QoE of 5, more than 57% reduction in energy and 76% in monetary cost.
