Characterization of a Low Cost, Automated and Field Deployable 2-Lead Myocardial Infarction Detection System

Myocardial Infarction (MI) or Ischemia is a condition where the heart becomes deficit of blood supply due to blockage or narrowing of arteries. Conventionally 12 Lead Electrocardiograph (ECG) is used to detect such anomalies but pose a challenge within home settings. To overcome this challenge, we propose a low cost, automated Myocardial Infarction (MI) system that has been validated with single, 2-lead and 3-lead ECG acquisition. We conclude that the 2-lead system provides superior results in terms of positive predictivity, sensitivity, specificity and accuracy to be 94.6%, 84.2%, 86.5% and 85% respectively and is worthy of field deployment.
