Scheduling Multiple Workflows with Time Constraints onto Cloud Computing Resources

The problem of scheduling deadline-constrained multiple-workflows submitted to a cloud computing system has not been extensively studied yet. This paper focuses on the problem of scheduling a stream of workflows, which are submitted from time to time with time constraints, onto cloud computing resources. The objective of this paper is to maximize resource utilization while allowing as many as possible workflows to meet their time constraints. An online scheduling strategy based on workflow composition has been proposed and evaluated along with four other strategies that can be used to schedule multiple workflows.
