Molecular and morphological evidence for sibling species within Anopheles (Anopheles) lindesayi Giles (Diptera: Culicidae) in Bhutan

•Five genetically distinct sibling species of An. lindesayi are recognized in Bhutan.•There are some morphological distinctions in the adult and larval stages.•The status of the Lindesayi complex previously reported has been changed to the Lindesayi subgroup of the Lindesayi group.
