Preoperative abnormal body composition is closely related to bacteremia after living donor liver transplantation

•Abnormal body composition, particularly in terms of the number of those composition factors, was closely related to bacteremia after living donor liver transplantation.•There were no significant differences among each body composition factor after controlling for the number of factors present.•ABO incompatibility and low skeletal muscle mass index represented independent risk factors for bacteremia after liver transplantation.
