摘要
Background/Aim The incidence of breast cancer has steadily increased, with improving mortality rates1. Despite advances in treatment, recurrence and resistance are emerging issues. Long-term outcomes of Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (ILC) compared with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC) stage for stage have poorer outcomes2. We aim to determine the clinicopathological factors that may correlate with recurrence and/or resistance. Methods A retrospective cohort study has been performed on patients presenting with breast cancer from 2014-2018 at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse/Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Data was obtained from the hospital database maintained from Electronic and paper based medical records, ICD codes and MDT datasheets. Sub-group analysis of ILC and IDC has been performed. Discussion With current therapy, the outcomes from a diagnosis of breast cancer is favourable. In this setting, we look at the factors that may predict recurrence or poor outcome. This may inform further studies into preventing recurrence or inform whom we should prolong surgical surveillance. 1. Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
