The impact of transcatheter aortic valve implantation on arterial stiffness and wave reflections

•After transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) the arterial system exhibits a loss of compliance in response to the acute relief of the obstruction that aortic valve stenosis (AVS) poses, which is established in the long term.•Both the stable and the pulsatile component of the arterial system were studied, in a large sample with the longest follow-up so far.•Vascular biomarkers could assist in the risk-stratification as well as in the follow-up of these patients and even serve as therapeutic targets.
