Treatment of infected tibial non-unions using a BMAC and S53P4 BAG combination for reconstruction of segmental bone defects: A clinical case series

•Cornerstones of optimal infected non-union treatment consist of extensive infection treatment combined with optimization of fracture healing.•Eradication of infection is based on extensive debridement surgery, bone defect filling and local and systemic antimicrobial therapy.•Non-union treatment is based on the combination fracture fixation and creation of an optimal local fracture biology.•This preliminary data emphasizes that this combined approach (S53P4 BAG and BMAC) results in high consolidation rates and good infection control.
