摘要

•The dynamic evolution on the transition between Fe, Pd-Fe surface alloy and FeOx nanostructures characterized by STM and XPS.•Oxidation-induced Fe segregation from the Pd-Fe alloy surface could form FeO NSs embedded in Pd(1 1 1) as an intermediate structure, which would segregate onto the surface of Pd(1 1 1) upon further oxidation.
