Parental host species affects behavior and parasitism by the pentatomid egg parasitoid, Trissolcus japonicus (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae)

•Separate parasitoid lines were established using two pentatomid species as hosts.•Behavioral assay results suggest T. japonicus exhibits some degree of host fidelity.•Host parasitism rates and host suitability were dependent on exposed host species.•T. japonicus hind tibia length and body weight were dependent on host species.
