Long-term diagnostic value of MRI in detecting recurrent aggressive fibromatosis at two multidisciplinary sarcoma centers

•MRI shows a high long-term diagnostic value in detecting recurrent AF.•The configuration of recurrent AF is most often fascicular.•Small lesions are often difficult to distinguish from the post-therapeutic tissue and often lead to false-negative results.•Post-therapeutic changes may mimic streaky or small ovoid/nodular recurrences.
