Coulomb dissociation of 27P for study of Si-26(p,gamma)P-27 reaction

The Coulomb dissociation of the proton-rich nuclei P-27 was studied experimentally using a P-27 beam at 57 MeV/nucleon with a lead target. The gamma decay widths of the low-lying excited states in P-27 were deduced. The resonant capture reaction rate of stellar Si-26(p,gamma)P-27 through these states was estimated using the measured gamma decay width. The astrophysical implications derived from the estimated reaction rate is discussed.
