Crystal structure and spectroscopy properties of new PtII complexes containing 5-alkyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-thione derivatives

•Five trans-PtII complexes with 5-alkyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-thione derivatives were prepared.•The MS/MS spectra were used to elucidate the possible fragmentation pathways of the complexes.•NMR spectroscopy indicated the presence of the trans isomers in solution.•The crystal structures of three complexes have been described.
