Evacuation after the Great East Japan Earthquake is an independent factor associated with hyperuricemia: The Fukushima Health Management Survey

•The present study assessed the association between hyperuricemia and evacuation after a natural disaster.•This cross-sectional study included 22,812 residents (9391 males and 13,297 females).•Hyperuricemia was defined as > 7.0 mg/dL for men and > 6.0 mg/dL for women.•Evacuation after a natural disaster is an independent factor associated with hyperuricemia.
