摘要
•It is accepted that Aedes aegypti lacks embryonic diapause, but recent studies challenge this knowledge.•We assess the effects of parental photoperiod on embryonic diapause-related traits.•Short-day photoperiod induced females to lay larger eggs.•Short-day photoperiod induced females to lay eggs with more triglycerides.•Eggs from regions with longer winters had more triglycerides.•Our results demonstrate the capacity of this species to lay diapausing eggs.
