Applying the social cognitive model of well-being in the nursing clinical practicum: A structural equation modeling analysis with a Spanish student’s sample

•Examine the predictive power of a social cognitive model of wellbeing.•The abbreviated version of the tested model had a good overall fit to the data.•Proposed model was invariant across academic year.•Model accounted large portions of the variance in academic and life satisfaction.•Promote academic support and self-efficacy are positive for student well-being.
