•The dietary incorporation of oxidized soy oil (OSO) was tested in growing chickens.•Dietary OSO did not exert negative effects on growth traits or meat quality.•The supplementation of VE, tryptophan and β-glucan did not show notable benefits.•The OSO can be used successfully up to 7% of the finisher diet of growing chickens.
