Serological evidence of Ehrlichia minasensis infection in Brazilian dogs

•Multiple ehrlichial agents can infect dogs in Brazil.•This is the first serological evidence of E. minasensis infection in dogs in Brazil.•Two isolates of E. canis and one of E. minasensis were used to enhance the specificity of the immunodetection by IFA.•The presence of E. canis-specific antibodies was confirmed by ELISA using synthetic peptides of E. canis major surface proteins TRP19 and TRP36.
