Pathogenicity of entomopathogenic fungus, Metarhizium anisopliae MET-GRA4 isolate on dengue vectors, Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae (Diptera: Culicidae)

•Metarhizium anisopliae MET-GRA4 fungus as a promising new biological control agent.•Showed high larvicidal activity against both Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus.•Susceptibility of field strain to M. anisopliae was higher than laboratory strain.•M. anisopliae were highly effective with 100% mortality at 1 × 10⁶/ml.•Infection of M. anisopliae caused morphological deformities on larval body.
