One-pot synthesis of 3D-ZIF-7 supported on 2D-Zn–Benzimidazole–Acetate and its catalytic activity in the methoxycarbonylation of aniline with dimethyl carbonate

•The 3D-ZIF-7/2D-Zn(BeIM)OAc mixture was synthesized in a one-pot reaction.•The precursor’s molar ratio and diethylamine amount affected the co-production materials.•The ZIF-7/Zn(BeIM)OAc catalyzed methoxycarbonylation of aniline and dimethyl carbonate.•The obtained carbamate yield of the mixture was higher than that of a single component.
