Preoperative prediction of high-risk endometrial cancer by expert and non-expert transvaginal ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging, and endometrial histology

•Diagnostic performance of expert-TVS and MRI were comparable.•Non- expert-TVS had lower efficiency than expert-TVS and MRI, but highest sensitivity.•Addition of MRI if myometrial invasion was ≥50 % at non expert TVS was very efficient.•This simple strategy and preoperative sampling spared MRI in 61 % of patients.
