•Survivors of child trafficking experience barriers to obtaining healthcare.•Survivors in this study frequently sought healthcare before and after trafficking.•18 consequential patient-centered barriers to healthcare were identified by this study.•Prominent barriers included perceptions of negative healthcare experiences.•Majority of survivor participants felt health needs were not being met.
