Translation and psychometric evaluation of the Experience of Embodiment Scale in a Swedish community sample of young women and men

•Among women, the Swedish EES shows a factor structure similar to the original scale.•Among men, the factors of agency and sexual desire combine to form one factor.•The Swedish EES shows good internal consistency on total scale level.•The Swedish EES shows good convergent validity and incremental validity.•The EES’ use outside North America, and among both women and men, is supported.
