•Younger age of hypertension onset is associated with higher risk of CVD and all-cause mortality.•Nighttime BP levels and a riser pattern were independently associated with higher risk of CVD, in particular heart failure.•1 week of HBP monitoring may be the most reliable method for diagnosing hypertension.•ACE-I and ARBs are not associated with an increased risk for a severe course of COVID-19.•The efficacy and safety of RDN has been demonstrated in several randomized controlled trials.
