The Evaluation of Helicopter Emergency Medical Services With a Physician for Acute Myocardial Infarction in Japan: A Registry-Based Study of Prognosis and Time Reduction

•For distances greater than 20 km to a hospital, helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) decreased the time to angiography for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) compared with ground emergency medical services in Japan.•HEMS increased the rate of achieving the target time to angiography for AMI in Japan.•HEMS improved the prehospital return of spontaneous circulation rate in AMI in Japan.
