Autonomous compact seismic devices for detecting and recognition of moving on the ground people and vehicles are used both in the protection of various objects and for reconnaissance purposes. Results of the development of such a device for the detection and recognition of a moving person and vehicles are given in the paper. A device design is given, operation of a seismic signal processing unit is considered, and a seismic transducer is selected. Characteristics of seismic signals from moving objects and signals recognition algorithms are considered. Tests have shown that reasonably acceptable parameters can be achieved in a relatively simple device that uses the time parameters of seismic signals.
