Preparation And Characterization Of Magnetic Polyethyleneimine-Fe3o4 Nanocomposites

Magnetic polyethyleneimine-Fe3O4 nanocomposites were prepared via a facile solvothermal method by using polyethyleneimine as protective reagents. Optimization of the experimental conditions was also performed in this paper. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observation showed that the magnetic nanocomposites were basically spherical with an average size of approximately 32 nm. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) indicated that the XRD pattern of the magnetic nanocomposites exactly matched the JCPDS reference no. 19-629. The embedding of the Fe3O4 nanoparticles into Polyethyleneimine was verified by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The as-synthesized polyethyleneimine-Fe3O4 nanocomposites were effective in adsorbing Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) with a high capacity of 152 mg/g. The concentration of BSA was raised to 1.7 times. The polyethyleneimine-Fe3O4 nanocomposites can be used for BSA enrichment.
