The snag’s the limit: Habitat selection modeling for the western purple martin in a managed forest landscape
Forest Ecology and Management(2021)
摘要
•Purple martins are uncommon but widely distributed in western Oregon.•Purple martin habitat is the presence of moderately decayed snags in early seral forest.•Snags located >100 m from closed-canopy forest are more often chosen for nest sites.•Previous forest management has reduced the availability of nesting habitat.•Infrequent, but major stand-replacing events are likely the key to habitat creation.
