Pituitary apoplexy in the setting of double umbilical cord hematopoietic cell transplant and pancytopenia: A case report

•Risk factors for pituitary apoplexy include coagulopathy and thrombocytopenia.•Reports of pituitary apoplexy after hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) are very rare.•HCT-related pancytopenia complicates surgical intervention.•Pituitary adenoma patients should receive neurosurgical evaluation before HCT.
