Histopathological characteristics of synovitis in Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF)

•FMF is the most common autoinflammatory disease with colchicine confirmed as the most effective first-line therapy.•The presence of a prevalent lympho-myeloid infiltrate in synovitis, might confer colchicine resistance to FMF arthritis.•Detailed information about histopathological pattern of synovitis in FMF patients may help to better understand the pathogenic mechanisms leading to arthritis, thus allowing a suitable treatment choice.
