•Widespread contamination of PFASs was found in environmental compartments in Wuliangsuhai Lake.•Biomanipulation through species introduction changed food web structure in Wuliangsuhai Lake.•Lower concentrations of PFASs in fish species were observed in biomanipulation area in Wuliangsuhai Lake.•Biomanipulation through species addition increased trophic magnification factors of PFASs.
