Triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio and cardiovascular events in the general population: A systematic review and meta-analysis of cohort studies

•Analysis of TG/HDL-C ratio, a marker of IR with CVD in the general population.•A higher level of TG/HDL ratio was associated with a 43% higher risk of CVD.•Per unit increment of TG/HDL-C ratio was associated with an 8% higher risk of CVD.•The TG/HDL-C ratio may be useful in the prediction and prevention of CVD.
