Short-term effects of microimplant-assisted rapid palatal expansion on the circummaxillary sutures in skeletally mature patients: A cone-beam computed tomography study

•Skeletally mature patients underwent microimplant-assisted rapid palatal expansion.•All 9 circummaxillary sutural widths increased immediately after expansion.•The greatest increases were in the midpalatal and intermaxillary sutures.•Changes in midpalatal, intermaxillary, and frontomaxillary sutures correlated.•Changes in the posterior of midpalatal suture and medial pterygopalatine suture were correlated.
