common site of pathology, with decreasing incidence at the distal extremityofthelowerlimb.Inourcase,onlythefootandankleregionwas affected,withbothfeetbeingaffectedatdifferentpointsoftime.Recurrenceofepisodeshavebeendescribedintheliterature,andcan affectdifferentanatomicalsites.Thiswasthecaseforourpatient,butspecificallyaffectedthedistallimboneachoccasionratherthanmore commonproximalsites.Episodeshadbeenrelativelyfrequentalsoinourpatient,withmultipleepisodesoverthepreceding1tenyears-whichalso appearstobeanatypicalphenomenon.Duetothelocationofsymptomsatthepatient’sfeet,herrecurrentepisodeshadbeenessentiallymisdiag-nosedasprolongedgoutflares,thusleadingtodelayeddiagnosis.Unfortunately,basedontheliterature,thisisamorecommonexperience inpatientswithfootinvolvementduetoitslowerfrequencyandnon-specificnature.Assuch,patientsareatriskofpersistentbonepainsymp-tomswhichcanaffectfunctionandsubsequentqualityoflife.
