Reviving a Political Perspective of Organizations and Behavioral Strategy: from Theories to Methods

The question of how organizations deal with divergent interests and preferences of their members has a long tradition in organization theory and strategy and has experienced a resurgence in interest recently. The goal of this symposium is to bring together a diverse group of experts to share their insights on topics such as: (i) how the political processes inside organizations evolve and influence performance, (ii) what are the means by which organizations could manage internal politics, and (iii) what are some tools and empirical contexts that enable inquiry into these questions. The symposium will feature speakers from diverse perspectives (e.g., behavioral theory, organization design, evolutionary theory, strategic leadership, etc.) and employing diverse methodologies (qualitative, quantitative, and formal modeling).
