The LPE Growth of Iron Garnet Films for Magnetic Flux Density Observation

As an imaging sensor of magnetic flux in high-Tc superconductors, NdxLu3-xFe5O12 and PrxLu3-xFe5O12 films (Nd-LIG, Pr-LIG) were synthesized by LPE method. All films have large in-plain anisotropy and Ku of Pr-LIG and Nd-LIG are — 17 and — 12 ∼ — 9 (x 104 erg/cm3), respectively. The θ F of Pr-LIG is much larger than that of Nd-LIG. The Nd-LIG films show step-like magnetization curve at 77 K for the magnetic field perpendicular to the plane, while the magnetization of Pr-LIG increase lineally up to saturation. These results indicate that Pr-LIG is more suitable than Nd-LIG for the magnetic sensor.
