Hidróxido de cálcio como medicação intracanal no tratamento endodôntico

Knowledge of the materials used in the root canal system is of fundamental importance for the success of endodontic treatment. The present study aims to highlight the main properties of calcium hydroxide (HC), as well as its mechanisms of antibacterial and biological action. The work is a literature review, using the databases PubMed, Google Academics, Sielo. We conclude that the studied drug has several useful attributions during endodontic treatment, however when used in cases with the presence of periapical lesions, where bacteria with greater cytotoxicity are found, this drug needs to be associated with other drugs in order to achieve the therapeutic objective. as well as its properties, microbial control, dissolution of organic residues, anti-inflammatory power, inhibition of inflammatory reabsorption and vehicle.
