A ku-band dual polarized corrugated horn

Corrugated horn is a kind of horn with merits of excellent radiation performance and compact structure. In particular, the horn with axial slots could be realized to have low cross-polarization and wide-band performance. It has practical value in extending frequency range and multiplexing polarization. This paper presents a design of a dual polarized corrugated horn in Ku-band, which consists of the axial slots horn for low cross-polarization and the OMT (Ortho-Mode Transducer) for wide-band dual polarization. According to the measured results, the horn covering 10GHz-15GHz has the characteristics that the VSWR is less than 1.5, the S21 is less than −45dBc, cross polarization at 0°is less than −45dB. Besides, a good beam performance in both E-plane and H-plane are achieved. The corrugated horn has broad applications in the field of satellite communication and CCR (Compensated Compact Range) feed.
