Determinations of inorganic elements in iliac crests and biochemical parameters in serum of rabbits

This paper dealt with the osteoporosis model of New Zealand rabbits in order tostudy the functions of inorganic elements for women patients with osteoporosis.Thirty cases of iliac crest were collected and determined using Neutron ActivationAnalysis (NAA) technique. The results showed that the fluorine concentrations inthe experimental group were higher than those in the control group and themagnesium concentrations were significantly lower (P0.001), but theconcentrations of K, Na, Ca, Ba, Mn, Sr had no remarkable difference. Combinedwith the serum biochemical markers of bone formation and resorption, thephysiological functions of some metal elements in bone were discussed.
