• Healthy beverage initiatives (HBIs) aim to reduce sugar sweetened beverages (SSB). • We estimated climate, water and plastic impacts of beverages for 12 HBI scenarios. • Climate and water impacts per liter were greater for liquid contents than for containers. • Replacing all commercial beverages with tap water had lowest impacts. • Replacing SSBs with beverages other than tap water took back many benefits.
