In this issue of Chem Catalysis , Qian and co-workers report a novel strategy to produce higher carboxylic acids by reacting polyols, CO 2 , and H 2 . Interestingly, utilizing the Rh complex and I 2 can accelerate the reaction effectively in a binary solvent of ionic liquid and water.
