Metal-free synthesis and self-assembly of poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether-block-poly(ε-decalactone)-block-poly(methyl methacrylate) triblock terpolymers

•Organocatalytic synthesis of poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether-block-poly(ε-decalactone)-block-poly(methyl methacrylate) triblock terpolymers.•BNPP catalyzes ε-DL polymerization and provides precise macroinitiators mPEG-block-PDL with narrow molar mass distribution.•Incompatibility of discrete blocks in the terpolymers is studied by SAXS and AFM analysis.•Self-assembly of triblock terpolymers into multicompartment micelles in water.
