Prospective Observational Trial of a Nonocclusive Dilatation Balloon in the Management of Tracheal Stenosis

•Tracheal stenosis frequently presents as an emergency and is challenging to treat•Tracheal dilatation allows time for multidisciplinary assessment and may be curative•Traditional dilators cause complete tracheal occlusion, risking complications•A non-occlusive balloon may allow continuous ventilation and prevent desaturation•We report the first 20 procedures in adult patients with acquired tracheal stenosis•The design also allows endoscopically-guided dilatation through a supraglottic airway
